I stopped taking it because i had extreme shortness of breath, nervousness, and my heart pounded so fast and loud i thought i was going to die. now, every time someone scares me or i'm alarmed, those same feelings come back and i feel like im going to die. its not a panic attack, but it feels like my heart is going so fast that its going to stop. whats going on? what should i do? i told my doctor and all she said was to discontinue using it. it's not fair because i used rhinocort to clear up sinuses, not to have a heart problem. is it going to go away? please help me im so scared.

Rhinocort is topical steroid, and would generally not cause the type of symptoms you describe. Are you sure you were not using any other medications like pseudoepherine or phenylephrine as both of those could cause those type of symptoms at high doses. I suppose if you had an infection in your sinus that the act of taking the spray could have triggered some bacteremia (bacteria in the blood) which could have caused those type of symptoms, but that would be very very rare.

I wonder if you have an unrelated problem like a thyroid problem or heart condition. You definitely need to get this checked out, and if you are still having the symptoms go to the emergency room.

Why do you think its not a panic attack? Some medications do have side effects but after you have been off them the side effects go away.

Look up Rhinocort so you can see what adverse effects are.
There are other nasal sprays ask your MD about them.
