500 is kinda hard to do with today's society. All foods even the fruits are 100 calories or more. So i'd say the least amount of calories that you can consume is 800 calories. I, myself, consume 800 calories per day..and am still healthy.. If you eat 800 calories, like the other people said, you can't get all the nutrients needed into ur body, if you gonna go for 800 calories, take some nurtrient supplements and vitamin supplements reccomeneded by your doctor. OR there's another thing you can do instead, go to your doctor and ask him/her if he/she can refer you to a qualified nutritionisit and go to the nutrtiontiost and ask them for an eating plan that will help you achieve your intended goals.

You need to eat more calories than 500/day. You may feel weak if you don't eat more. You can't get enough vitamins/minerals/protein by cutting back to only 500 calories. And you will feel very hungry.
If you are trying to lose weight just cut back on your calories a few hundred calories at a time and increase your activities.

No you need more no little then 1000 a day.
If you are concerned about weight loss eating 500 cals/day isn't a quick fix. You can't live off that and will probably end up binging and gain weight.
So I would say eat about 1000cals/day and exercise for 40 min 3-4 times a week.

That's the worst thing that you could do to yourself, short of eating nothing. The average person requires approximately 2000 calories every day. That's a 1500 calorie deficet you're leaving for yourself, causing detrimental health effects. If you're trying to lose weight, I could tell you more about that, but I can tell you that it doesn't involve eating the equivalant of a McDonalds meal consisting of a Hamburger, Garden Salad Shaker and small carton one-percent milk.

If you eat 500 calories a day, it won't affect my health in any way at all. You, however, will suffer malnourishment. You probably need closer to four times that amount, depending on your current height, weight and activity level. As trite as it sounds, you really should check with a doctor before beginning any weight control regimine.

No because your body doesn't get enough nutrients and so you will not have enough energy to complete your daily tasks without being completely fatigued. If dieting is what you want it's best just to cut out soda, limit sweets and fats, and only cut your calories by 500 at most (more or less depending on body weight/frame).

Absolutely not! You will gradually slow down your metabolism becuase you are practically starving your body. When this happens, your body goes into a mode where it will store whatever food you are taking in. In the long run, this will result in weight gain. I suggest eating 6 small meals throughout the day with exercise. This will motivate your metabolic rate and you will be able to successfully burn calories at a steady rate.

At first your body will go into 'starvation mode' and desperately try to conserve energy by sleeping a lot etc. Later it will probably adjust, although it will certainly feel cold all the time and your energy will be very limited.
If you choose highly potent vitamin-rich foods, you may survive, but you will get very very skinny. There is some research to support longevity is actually increased if you continue like that, though.
However, you will not have a normal life. Your activities will be very limited. You may live longer... but your quality of life may be such that it may only FEEL that way.
