You don't "claim him"...you file a joint return even tho only you had income. He can put disabled, unemployed or whatever as his occupation. You do not qualify as single or head-of-house if you were married and lived together. If you file w/o him you would use "married filing separately". Much better to file joint unless he owes back taxes or something.

You can't claim your husband as a dependant on your tax returns. But you should file Married Filing Jointly. MFJ offers a larger standard deduction than filing Single does, so it would be in your best interest.

If you're married, it almost always saves you money to do it that way. Your alternative would be to file as married filing separately, which almost always costs you more in taxes.
