No, this is a wives tale, but it is probably not harmful. For small burns (say less than 1/2 size of your palm), that are only red of maybe a little blistered, over the counter first aid cream and a non-stick bandage is usually the best.
Putting the burn under cool water (not ice), may help with the pain of the initial burn. Plus if there is anything like hot grease on the burn it will help rinse it away.
Any burns on your face, hands, genitals or feet that are bigger involve more than part of a finger probably should be checked out by a doctor.

No, putting butter on a burn closes up the pores and does not allow the heat to escape. Thus it is like cooking from the inside out. Run a burn under cold water.

NO NEVER.
butter helps the heat in the burn to continue to burn the skin.
Run it under cold water to dissipate the heat.
dont put any linen bandage or tea towel on it but to keep the germs out as this will stick to the wound and cause further damage when it has to be removed, cover it in cling film when its cooled, if its bad.then get to a hospital.
dont use butter or anything else like that ever.

Not realy, for a couple of reasons, 1, Your insulating a burn that needs to cool down and not stay hot and 2, You burn can still heat the butter and the butters warmth can still make your burn, burn as it were.

Butter is better for a bump on the forhead it stops it from turning all colours , for a burn the best solution is too hold the burnt area under the tap until the area is numb from cold , then seek first-aid if necessary .

No! This is a myth. As your skin is still technically burning, the fat in the butter will heat up the burn even more. It's best to run it under cool water.

No the only thing to do for a burn is place under running cold water for up to 15 Min's if bigger than a 10p coin on a normal sized adult then seek proper medical care afterwards, if small you can get proper burn dressings,
But this depends where it is if on the face or near mouth, nose etc always get proper help as swelling could could obstruct the airways.

No... use some soften cream for moisturizing or something to reduce the burn like ice.. I never heard butter, unless you want yourself to be a corn on the cob.
