It could be that your age or situation at the time kept you from the full effect of grief. It doesn't really matter though. You have experience the loss now and you've had to begin the healing process. Look for things you can do to honor your mum. Special occasions, meals etc. You'll end up at a place of peace in time. My mom passes thirteen years ago. It took about seven to reach a place of contentment. God bless you.

Nothing can replace this loss especially at festive times, is there anything that your mum always wanted you to do like a hobbie or something that would make her smile? Or write some nice poems about her you will be suprised with what you come up with it is something that you can create that is personal to you both, and can read in times of despair.... god bless

the first couple of years you can still hear her voice and smell her per fum and see her face if you close your eyes and then time moves on and your memory is not as good and you want to pick up the phone and hear her say I love you and you wonder will it ever get better ?will the pain ever dull? I don't know my daddy just died in February and my heart is still in pieces .I feel for you .god bless you ..

Maybe it was shock and delayed grief? My Mum died suddenly 7yrs ago and i was inconsolable for 3yrs, it has got easier slowly and time does heal but keep at it, remember the times you had, cry when it suits you. She may not be with you in body but its comforting to know she is in mind. Good luck andtake care.
