It's tough to get reliable info on the early Catholic church because different people with different agendas are pushing different stories. Some say it was the Catholics that made Jesus into a god rather than a prophet as the Muslims and Jews believe. It was the Catholic church behind the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition and a lot of other atrocities but I suppose they've done some good too. I was raised in the Catholic church in the 1960s, I went to Catholic school for 4 years and was an alter boy participating in the Mass ceremony. All I can say is that the priests and nuns were the most hateful and spiteful and abusive people I ever encountered. There are decent people in the church but I consider the Catholic leadership to be evil. If there's such a thing as demonic possession it would exist in the folks that run the Catholic church. I'd caution anyone to not trust those people.

Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of Christian history recognizes that the Catholic Church is the only Christian church whose history extends back to apostolic times. There are writings in every century, both by the Catholic Church and about the Catholic Church, from the beginning of the 2nd Century to the present day. The earliest existing written references to the "Holy Catholic Church" by that name were penned by Ignatius, Catholic bishop of Antioch, in 107 AD. Ignatius knew the apostles John and Peter personally, and was most likely ordained by John. The way Ignatius uses the name makes it clear that he expected his readers to be thoroughly familiar with the name. Therefore it is apparent that the One Church founded by Jesus Christ for all mankind was calling itself the Holy Catholic Church before the end of the 1st Century. We also know from the Holy Bible that Jesus founded only ONE Church, that He clearly stated that it was to remain ONE, that He never authorized the founding of any other churches in His name, and that He warned us against the dangers of doing so.
We know that the apostles did travel and preach the gospel throughout the known world. Thomas carried the Good News at least as far as India. Since apostolic times the True Church has continued to obey its divine mandate to make disciples of all peoples. Today the Catholic Church alone is present in every nation on earth, spreading the gospel message. Every nation on earth that is now predominantly Christian was first evangelized by the Catholic Church. History speaks for itself. Which presumably is why Protestants avoid history like the plague. To know history is to reject Protestantism, in all of its conflicting and contradictory forms.

The Catholic Church in the first century went from India to France and North Africa. Not bad in just a few decades, the ancient Catholic Church of Kerala India traces itself back to Thomas who, according to the Indian Church was sent there by Mary following her Resurrection.

The Catholic Church originated in around 107AD (Historic FACT).
Ignatius, bishop of Antioch, wrote seven letters urging the chruch should be governed by bishops; he was the first person to use the phrase Catholic Church.
107 AD mind you, is only about seven years after Paul's letterS were collected into a little book. (100AD) and only about at the oldest 45 years, and at the youngest 3 years after the ACTUAL WRITING OF THE FOUR GOSPELS.
(The four gospels were written between 60-100 AD)
140-200 slow agreement on the canon-which books are to make up the New testament and which should be kept out . (Catholic church, hence the name "canon".)
There were Jewish Christians before the Catholics, but never any established "church".
since they were weakened substantially after Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD.
Are the Jewish Christians those the protestants identify with?
That's strange since they worship a bible which the Catholics translated and compiled.

At one time the Catholic church held the truth. The Romans had many gods that they worshiped and the church feared the Romans and were looking for political power.Their solution to this was to make the Roman gods saints. This allowed them to still pray to their own gods and be apart of something new and glamorous. The true Christians remained faithful and this is were the protestants came to be.At one time they were referred to as Anabaptist and Waldencesess.not sure that was spelled right.

The concept of the Catholic Church is not to be taken for word to word on a day to day living, obviously modern life moves the times but to adhere to their way of morals and interept them to your own terms, not to say you go to Mass when Sunday arrives,eg. The Jewes are the religion of our God.
