Does anyone know of any good dating sites where the men are not either all married or just looking for a quick lay i.e. where people who are genuinely looking for relationships advertise. Ifnot then where on earth do you go to meet someone when you are over 45 and not into pubs, bars etc.

I think you get blokes like that on all of them but a good one for you to try if you're new to internet dating is girlsdateforfree.com - you don't pay a subscription hence the catchy name!
If nothing else it's free to join so you've got nothing to lose! I've met a few good men on it and made some great friends along the way too! Good luck x

iam in the same position haha i stay in scotland where we have the public smoking ban in place and a work colleauge said
"why dont you take up smoking...just think you could be standing outside a pub or club talking to a girl and you could be saying ive just started smoking but iam trying to give up haha" as its something in common.
ive tried the online dating but the girls ive spoken to said the guys they met were nothing like the photos also my dates were not as described its a hit and a miss to be honest try match.com

You'll meet some weirdo's on all dating sites. Just have to do a better job of screening them before meeting them.
