I want to lose weight, but I also want to cleanse my body of the toxins. Does anyone know if this actually works? If so how long do you fast? And any advice?

Juice fasting is one of the oldest methods to help purify your body. It can also be very useful in helping to break old eating habits in order to trim extra body mass.

Check with a health practitioner, but some people should not fast. These include pregnant or nursing women, diabetics, and others. Check out the first site below:

One need to be careful in several areas during a juice fast. The first is to realize that most juice contains little or no fiber and so you should probably never fast more than five days to a week without returning to regular meals. This is much more important for older people than for youth.

The next area is to make sure that you do not take an overabundance of acid juices (citrus and tomato are acidic). These taste sour and can change blood pH more than needed. Balance sour juices with others. You should be able to find the right balance. A slight acid pH shift is okay. Just do not overdo it, no matter what you may have read about detox.

The last is making sure to get adequate vitamins and minerals. The water soluble ones will flush through your system. Take an over the counter multiple vitamin if necessary. Spinach juice is good for iron.

It is best to start with 5 days to one week and check the overall results. Then switch to a light regular diet high in fiber for about one week, then try 3 days of fast.

Pay attention to your mind and body during this entire time. And Keep Off The Scales.
