I'm looking for a non-religious "African-American" private school in the Los Angeles area. I want a school that is K-8 , and specializes in educating black children, providing an education that public schools can't, and a perspective that traditional private schools don't.

Obviously subjects like Math and Physical education are non-ethnic. But being a black man in this country and having gone through the educational system, it offers nothing for a young black man in terms of understanding his heritage and where he comes from. I would like my son to learn about himself, and learn an accurate version of history, not HIS-story. I did not post this question to spark a socio-political debate, or solicit your opinion. If anyone has any info on what I seek, GREAT and I look forward to your response.....if not, KINDLY keep your opinions to yourself. Thank you.

try a catholic school...i dont buy this ethno centric eduction...i dont think there is anything ethnically oriented for example about algebra or physical education. i can certainly appreciate your desire to maintain your heritage but i manage an ethnic grocery and i see the bad side of it daily. america is the worlds melting pot and like it or not you have to interface with all races and creeds a great deal of people i see during the day stink at doing that...school is one thing but the true ethnic education should be the acceptance and tolerance of all races and creeds. learn to lead by example not by tradition and heritage will follow.
