Excel worksheet date column does not show date as entered?

Question

cell is formatted as date. 12/27/2006 is entered ,same shows in formula bar ,cell shows 1/0/1900. HELP

Ok, it's easy, right click on the cell (or the column) and say FORMAT CELL...
Then on the Number tab at the top, you can choose Date...
on the right side choose which format you wish your date to show.

Did you enter it as:
=12/27/2006
or as:
12/27/2006

The '=' seems to cause a problem. If you want to enter it as a formula, use this:
=DATEVALUE("12/27/6")
and be sure that the cell is still formatted as date.

Right click on the cell. Go to "Format Cells"...then "Date" and choose the way you want the date to be formatted.
