Illegal immigration is a huge problem in the US, and we are doing nothing to stop it. I have taken notice that it is a problem in the European Union and is very prevelant in the UK. What is going on? Is this an international scandal? Who or what is behind this? Are all the countries in the world involed in some "new world government" sceme? It seems the government is funding this with taxpayer money. Why? The government is doing this without is own citizens permission, even with laws against it. It is being done even with taxpers angry and voting against it. What in the world is going on? Is the world becoming socialist? communist?

Part of it is 6.6 billion people with a lot of spare time, and not much better to do than try and figure out how to improve their lives, and the easiest way to do that seems to be to emigrate to a first-world country, but here's the fun part:

Let's say you earn, hmm, 14 bucks an hour. Ok. Thats you in competition with the other 5 guys you work with, small company,
making decent revenue etc. Ok. Now, let's tilt the table: Next door, another business opens up, does basically the same thing you do, same product or service, etc. Your company follows the posted labor laws, theirs does NOT....somehow, they've got a work-force of 14 guys...who all earn less than you do. Their company can do what your company does for 30% less. Now, let's make it ugly. Following all the rules, paying all the taxes, YOUR company currently makes about 10% profit on what it does, rest is lost in overhead, including YOUR wages. Hmmm...
now, you've got direct competition from a business that operates illegally, but nobody's on fire to regulate em, because they've got a 4-star reputation and lots of repeat customers. And, as a result of all that, maybe you start losing a little market share, there.
Just a little, maybe 2-5% reduction in sales, phone rings less...and as time goes by, less and less...then, it's really quiet, sales are slow, no big jobs going on, and the day comes: "Gotta let you go, Larry, business has really dropped". Still support amnesty? Hmmm....

Tolerating illegal immigration amounts to giving away the store.
You weren't planning on signing that mortgage deal for the new house, were you? LOLOL

That's just a nightmare scenario, but chances are, there's some grain of reality in it, Cesar Chavez, the patron saint of hispanic migrant field workers, was adamantly AGAINST illegal immigration, because he recognized the negative potential of such hiring and labor practices. This was Mr. Checkered Shirt himself, and if he thought it was screwed up, then maybe that kind of means something....

One way or another, big business donates a lot of money to the political process. We vote 'cause it makes us feel all important and civically righteous or whatever, but what Corporation X wants, Corporation X typically gets, 'cause that's how the world REALLY works. If that wasn't the case, there would have never been an Enron, nor other examples of poor corporate governance. Cash is king, greed is a powerful motivator, you have to wonder if you were a city planner and some guy walked in with a less-than-stellar reputation and a Suitcase Full Of Money if you'd cave to the temptation to let him set up shop in your town, even if he was as wrong as two boys...well, you know.

Bribery works, otherwise you'd never hear about it. And, we do live in ethically challenging times, where there's lots of grey areas, and lesser evils, and the complexities of immigration procedures and laws are daunting, and that's why some people just decide to basically say '**** it' and go find someone that'll hire em 'under the table' and carry on that way. Life is what it is, and you kind of have to put yourself in their shoes, too, and wonder what it is you'd be tempted to do to get to 'el norte' etc.

We DO live in a crazy world, that's seen inSANE growth just in the last 20-30 years, lots of changes, and likely we'll see some more as time goes on. The demographics guys talk about 9-10 billion people by 2050, call me a cynic but I think that has Big Ugly written all over it, I think the future IS now, and if people had their heads screwed on right, there'd be like, talks at the UN about global overpopulation every month, and group projects to help some countries get a handle on what seems to be some people's favorite hobby, having more kids than they can support.

I think Mexico's got the right idea, though, their new president's got the Bright Idea that he's going to push for building schools etc., really start getting kids there educated, so they can build a better future....

Where does Mexico get off saying we are suppose to allow document fraud, lying, stealing all in the name of a better life.I didn't see any where in the story where Mexico is saying maybe we should call them all home and work to improve our country so this can never be again .If Mexico doesn't like our laws let them fix their own country and make the laws they approve of.Mexico should not be giving recipes for life when they themselves have very harsh unfair Immigration laws that punish people harshly

It's a problem to all developed nations, namely, those in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. It's just that the United states gets more illegal "immigrants" yearly than do all other developed nations combined, so its a rather big problem. Other countries have legislation and the balls to stop it however...

No the U.S is the only nation that has the weakest immigration laws.I mean in Mexico if you come illegally they throw you in jail for 5 years. But not in the U.S.Its a place where illegals thrive and legals work hard for citizenship. In India North Korea they actually shoot at anyone crossing the border. In Japan they have severe punishment. In India they shoot at people. As in Pakistan and China.

Illegal immigration is simply the new term for migration and migratory patterns. This process has been governing world history since the dawn of time.
We aren't going to stop it. But I don't expect a Gengis Khan or Attila to invade us from the south. But, who knows?

Europe is having problems with immigrants who came legally, but very few countries in the world have trouble with illegal immigrants. Most countries are VERY strict on illegal immigrants, and will throw them in prison. (And Mexico's laws are among the strictest in the world...)

It was great and fun when Europeans illegally invaded America and butchered native Americans.

It was also great patriotism and fight for a safer world when the US illegally invaded Iraq.

But now, when someone else is entering US illegally, it is a serious problem. You don't like a taste of your own medicine, do you ? Well, enjoy it.

Sure seems that way and the "tension" seems to be a nice way to "cull" the poplulation back into a manageable amount. Disease, starvation, civil unrest.......They are encouraging the very things that caused distruction of nations in the past.

Of course not, who would want to emigrate to France, let alone go through the trouble of doing it illegally.

No. The Mexicans just want to get back at you for stealing Texas and California from them the same way you stole Indian land.
