Does anyone have a cat this big? How do you get a cat to get this big? Do big ones like this play like a regular size cat?

That is a beautiful cat :) Maine Coon cats can definitely get very large. When it comes to that specific picture, though, realize that the man is holding that cat far in front of his body, giving it the illusion of being even bigger.

If you want a cat that big and beautiful, research research research to find a good Maine Coon breeder and buy a kitten, or look around at shelters (try PetFinder.com) and search for a Maine Coon to rescue. MCs have a wonderful personality. Can you tell that I love them? :) Many of them even have extra toes! They are generally quite docile and do get along with other cats of any size. You will learn all of these things when you research them.

Also, be sure to feed your cat a high-quality cat food. Ask your vet what s/he recommends. That will help your cat to grow large and healthy, and it will smell better than the cheap stuff once it hits the litter box. Cheap food = very stinky litter.

Good luck!

Yeah, I've always wanted a maine coon cat too. Never have found one yet, but I do have a big 20 lb. kitty. She was that big when I got her from the shelter, now we're working on losing weight. She plays like a regular cat, but most of the time is just lazy. I don't think that most domestic cats are supposed to get that big, the Maine coone is the only breed that I know of that does.

Maine Coons are very large and energetic cats, sometimes weighing 11.3 kilograms (25 pounds); the average weight is 6 to 9 kilograms (13-20 pounds) for adult males and less (7-11 pounds) for females. Male Maine Coons may grow to a length in excess of 1 meter (40 inches); the longest cat on record is a Maine Coon 121cm (49 inches) in length.[citation needed] Growth to full size often takes longer than for most cats, with Maine Coons usually reaching full size at age three or four.

in short there all ways that big

Well my cat looks just like him except for the white on the nose, however, he is just about 12 1/2 pounds but extremely long for a cat. I am always amazed at how large cats can get. lol

If you're looking for a big cat, research a cat called a Savanna. They're a cross between a domestic Bengal and a African Serval. These are awesome cats! They start at around $2000 for a kitten but are well worth it!!

My Maine Coon cat was 22 pounds at his heaviest - and he was NOT fat - he was just a BIG cat - some breeds are bigger boned (just like humans) and some are "stocky" cats - turkish van cats, birmans, maine coons, persians are all bigger cats than say a siamese or a russian blue - as long as your cat is just BIG, not FAT, don't worry - and he will play as much as he wants to - that's the beauty of cats! :)

I have a cat that is 30lbs. He can do most things my other two can do just maybe not as easily. They all eat exactly the same thing and the other two are 17 and 14 lbs. He does have a bit of trouble grooming some spots though. He is generally a very happy boy.

Sure cats get big! Their size depends on their genes just like yours do. If your mom and dad were tall you could be tall too.. Of course overfeeding will make your cat fatter but not necessarily bigger. In male cats, the heads get bigger if they aren't neutered or if they're neutered a little later in life. Cats like to play, some more than others. Size makes no difference unless it's too fat. Then it just wants to sleep and eat.

I have 2 maine coons. My silver male is very long like in the pic. Very fluffy tail,he's a med. long hair. He's only 15 lbs. My other male is an orange med long hair and he's 20lbs something. Both are very loving and playful. Maine Coons tend to pick one person in the family that they are devoted to. My older one is 10 yrs old and he only likes to play with string. My other one in 4yrs old and he loves any toy with rabbit fur. And both do not like catnip.Their food bowl is full all the time but they only eat a little bit. And they are very active at night. I love these cats!!

When i was younger i had a cat i named spanker. He weighed about 13 lbs. He was huge!!! And he was just like the one on your picture. Orange. Now I have another cat like it but gey in color and he is so big that when i pick him up he squeaks. Ive noticed that these big cats are very loving and calm. The one I have now is best friends with my fox terrier and they totally love each other. He plays alot but does run as fast as the other cats.
