scientists can rationalize the two by saying that the things and principles they discover are methods of god. We can follow they physical process back but it always comes to an end where, whatever god did it. because further understanding is not here yet. Push back the unmoved mover to whichever point.
Also by 'interpreting' the bible, the stories are metaphors for our understanding of a divine that is there. Adam and Eve are representative of two people who were early humans not an actual story of creation. Or that these two were the product of gods creation. but his creation took the form of evolution in his odd ways. and he made it all tie together and fit a logic that we could kind of know or try to.

Yes, it is certainly possible, provided your definition of God doesn't include a "how it was done" part.
It is impossible to believe in both evolution completely (as science understands it) and the Christian God completely (without extreme interpretation or omission of certain Biblical parts).
This is because the whole idea of Christianity is based on this flow:
Adam/Eve made the first sin, which was passed on by descendancy to the rest of humanity. Christ comes along and offers himself as a blood-sacrifice to remove this sin.
Evolution, as understood by science, shows there was no creation point of Adam -- it was a gradual process of change. Therefore, there was no literal garden of eden, no literal original sin, and no need for redemption.
This is the only reason why evolution, which is based on the same science that brings you computers, microwaves, internal combustion, and the Hubble space telescope -- this is why it is fought by the Christians so vigorously in this country.
Around the world we are the laughing stock for holding such 14th century beliefs...

If you believe the bible to be a literal truth then you might feel that evolution is incompatible. However, even a hard core creationist has to conceed that evolution exists to some degree or another. Don't believe me? Think of it this way...Creationists believe that God created Adam & Eve, our first parents. Now, if evolution did not exist it would be reasonable to assume that all of the ofspring would have the same characteristics as Adam & Eve. Yet, if you look at the world today you can clearly see how different people are from region to region...black...white...asian...indian...etc. Even if the creation story is true...it is very clear that humanity has undergone a number of "changes" since then. Since the bible makes no effort to explain all of the current differences we can only assume that they came about due to natural causes...evolution.

They can, it just depends on your definition of God (you have to be specific - if you want a God that creates man in his image you have a conflict, if you have a God that just set the whole thing in motion long ago you can probably go far without finding any conflict). Of course you could also push the science boulder too but you have much more control over your own definition of God (you can change your mind but not necessarily change science).

Although I no longer believe in a God or gods I certainly believed in both at one time. Who is to say how long a day is to God. It could be a billion years. You can believe that God created life through evolution.
You don't have to believe that God poofed all the plants and animals on earth in a couple of our 24 hour days.

I find no conflict in that. The only conflicting ideas are what the religions (not God) has injected to our minds like the "magics" of miracles given more emphasis than the boundless resources on earth miraculously made available for man to be used for his own cure and advancements in life.
Religions however are silently and quietly agreeing to scientific discoveries otherwise, most priests and preachers would have died of their sickness if they did not submit themselves to the doctors nowadays. I have a friend who is a distinguished heart surgeon and educator in Houston, Texas using latest scientific methods in curing patients and at the same time has Doctorate Degree in Divinity and Masters in Theology. and an active member of a Catholic Church in their diocese.

Yes because all who believe in God have different ideas of him as I do. I'm not a hard-core Christian I don't even say I believe in him or her because there are other possibilities such as another god or perhaps no god. I have an idea that maybe there is God but not as the Bible states but that maybe he made Earth by evolution. But I don't really know.

If you believe in God, you should believe that God used science to make things the way they are. Things evolve. This is an observed event. As such, if you believe in God, you have to believe God made things evolve.
(You may dispute macro evolution - one species turning into another - but the simple incorporation of beneficial genetic mutations into an organism's DNA, i.e. evolution, is a fact of life.)

Yes, there are many scientists whom believe in both. Actually, the more one knows about the universe and the unbelievable odds it took to create life (I mean the exact conditions that HAD to be present at the EXACT time), one is often led to believe that there MUST have been some higher power involved in the creation of the universe.
