Can anyone say how HA helps (or not) OA?

what can a doctor do to help OA - is the only treatment knee replacement?

There are many treatments for OA. Surgery is definately not the only choice you have. These include weight control, excercise, hot & cold therapy, injections (use with caution), massage, electrical stimulation and so on.
