Lees breakage and weight = cheaper shipping and higher profits. Some companies still market in bottles for other countries due to import laws and as you stated for holiday distribution. Hope this helped!

I was very upset when they changed soda bottles from glass to plastic in the 90's . I guess its cheaper in plastic , but the soda goes flat a lot faster in plastic. Also in glass the soda tastes better . Yeah you can find venders that still sell bottles in singles .When it was in bottles you used to be able to get a refund of 6 cents to turn in the bottles. It was a nice way for a kid to get a few coins back in the day to buy some candy . Also its a better way to recycle , but companies rather save a few cents an trash the world with plastic that never breaks down.

I also think that Coke taste so much better in bottles. I guess they are trying to save money by putting them in plastic instead of bottles because it's cheaper.

Fuel and transport costs, it is actually a worse use of resources to transport glass bottles. Now that plastic and aluminium are efficiently recycled THIS IS the environmentally responsible choice.

Cost, and the unwillingness of lazy Americans to recycle and return the bottles.
We (as a society) would MUCH rather throw something away than re-use it ... thereby wrecking the environment and wasting money.

Coke in glass bottles is widely available in other (more responsible) countries.
