First off, Apocalypto had nothing to do with 2012. The date of it is probably around 1520 since people already had small pox (which came from the Spanish) but the Spanish were unknown in that region. I wrote a long essay on the movie on my OFS blog if you are interested in my take on it...I'm not reposting it here.
As far as 2012 goes, on 12-21-2012, the 13th Baktun of the Mayan Long Count calendar BEGINS. The calendar doesn't end, time doesn't end, the world doesn't end.

i dont believe it is to be the end of the world...
their calender runs out on this date , thats about it
but i have heard there is to be a spiritual awakening rather than an end
