Anything can make you FEEL depressed (including not having a reason to be depressed). Whether your cold is actually making you depressed or not will become clear once the cold clears up (as it must do in a few days). If you feel a lot brighter, look at this question again and feel a bit silly, then the answer will be 'Not in this case!'
Many people mix up feeling down in the dumps with feeling depressed. The two are not the same thing. The quicker you can tell the difference between the two, the less prone you will be to worrying about feeling depressed. All my sympathy.

Dear, you lost a lot of energy, and in our body everything is connected...there is no separate mind, body and soul. If one is weak, the other becomes weak too.
Get sunshine, in the winter time solarium is very very helpful. You'll feel like new born. If you make any extreme diet, stop it. Eat a lot of vegetables, fruits... not just exotic, use whatever is common for the place you live. Ginger-honey-lemon tea is good, tastes fine, has vitamins, gives energy and taken on empty stomach even helps to reduce weight. Take warm bath with a few drops of eucalyptus or lavender oil, with candlelight's if you like... Use more red, and orange colors. Keep yourself warm, same with the place where you stay. If you can effort (due to work), have a long walk, daily. Lack of "fresh" air and sunlight, is often a reason for depression. If you have a garden, make fire... watching fire , even candlelight, gives us a great relaxation, a lot of energy, good for the eyes, and besides is a great fun...with friends and "gluehwein"- hot wine with (or without) herbs.
You have to care a lot for your self... if even you won't care, then who will?
Major thing, do not worry about celebrations, or feeling lonely. Everyone does somehow. It seems to be in our human nature to expect something incredibly great on these days. Interestingly those very special things are happening when you do not expect them.

Being sick or in pain can certainly cause depression. If the depression is severe or stays with you after the cold subsides, however, then you have a more serious problem and need to seek help. I hope you feel better SOON!

Colds don't cause depression. Having one over Christmas is a good reason to feel peed off though.

i think colds can make you feel low but i wouldn't personally say depressed. It all depends on your state of mind so try to stay positive and think of all the good things in your life!! :)

definitely...if you're physically exhausted or in pain, it can affect your mental condition.
however, the converse is also true....if it persists for months (you keep getting ill), you might check with your doctor....bc depression can also manifest itself in physical ways.
i hope you feel better! I too am feeling a bit under the weather.

Absolutely being sick can cause you to feel depressed. If you don't feel good physically it only makes sense you won't feel good mentally. I'm sorry. I hope you feel better soon.
