Well, you came here looking for insight into human nature, and you found it my friend. You simply don't seem to like what you've found.
The christian religion has always been used by humanity as an excuse to behave poorly. Yes, I'm picking on the jesus freaks, I've not noticed too many people on the board shilling for Odin or Zeus...
It may be a hard pill to swallow, but people are not "mostly good," kind, and the vast majority of the masses are very ignorant and plan to do what they can to remain that way. Christianity is a religion that thrives on these concepts.
Yes Virginia, humans suck. Use your own mind and senses to chart your very own path on the journey from cradle to grave. You'll be much better off... :)

This is the only site where beliefs is discussed either for or not. You're showing more ignorance by going to other sites like etiquette or science or computer section. Do you want to be barking at the wrong trees?
What you should attack is people's lack of thorough studies first before they shoot their insulting questions as if they it truly know what they are saying. What is even worse is that they throw it with rants and sometimes threats. They lack the sincere effort to really know that this section is designed to ask questions that needs honest answers and not to use as a hate board.

Yes, I would have to agree. Except I will add it seems to be the ones that are the loudest that are like that. There is still some really nice people on here, it just takes some searching. I went into a Christian chat forum, that is much like answers but none of the rudeness and I found a lot of decent, loving people. I think people use this site as an outlet to release their frustrations. What better place to hurt someone than to get them right close to their heart. I try to not let it get me, but it still sometimes does. We all make mistakes, the question is, do we learn from them and try to be a better person today than we were yesterday? I try to be. And I my hope is some of these people will too. May God richly bless you and yours this holiday season.

I don't think it's a matter of attacking. I think a lot of us have beliefs and of course our own beliefs will contradict those of others, because we all don't think the same. We all arrive at a point at why we think, what we think. Through the course of our own experiences. In a place like this a lot of us like to dialogue our own beliefs with each other. Granted things could get a little heated sometimes, but the bottom line is we are all sharing our beliefs with each other. so look on the bright side of things

Here's my assessment.
The Evangelical Christians think the site should be used only those subscribing to their style of Religion...all others should stay away.
The free thinkers try to point out the folly in the Evangelical view.
Then the food fight begins.
Also some people just want to be noticed, and you get noticed when you say outrageous things or ask outrageous questions.
You need to weed through all that to find the pearls of wisdom

The whole idea behind modern day religion is to Davide people and make them hate each other. Just think for a moment if all the churches and mosks are converted into houses for the homeless people and the wealth distributed equally among the residents! Maybe God/ Allah will go along with the idea but then where would the preachers and the mullahs go?

It is high time and a civic duty to point out the idiocy in peoples' delusions. They are dangerous and they hurt little children with all their crap about hell. People ARE mostly good, and you don't need some antiquated dark ages book to have a moral spine. At the current trend, I do not see much hope for us as a species, but who knows.

Isn't that the appropriate section for attacking others' "religious" beliefs? Just kidding, but I wouldn't expect much in the way of rational debate here on Yahoo! Answers. Although one does break out every once in a while.

Great question. My guess is that since the Yahoo! Discuss feature on news stories is down, you have a whole bunch of bigoted trolls with no other way to prove their stupidity and hate-speech, so they look for the next best thing. Yahoo! Answers. Too bad that they have this much free time and consider it a good use of their time. I'm at work, if I was at home and not playing with my baby, hanging out with family and friends, or doing something enjoyable, I'd kick my own ***. Trolling Yahoo! Answers on personal time equates to big time "Loser-dom"

the religion section is the most used and abused section
i agree with you
and i can tell you why
and this reason supports my claim that religion is the worst thing that happened to people...it is the barrier between them and god for they use it to manipulate and to fight with each other (history is the evidence for this) and kill each other and then doesn't religion itself defeat its purpose when this happens?
your question has more insight thanwhat most people here can offer in return....im very sorry ....it is difficult right now for me to express my ideas in words so the lack of words and the unfilled gaps speak on behalf of my unspoken words.
gandhi said poverty is the worst form of violence....i say ignorance is the second worst form of violence...that is what you will never cease to find here and elsewhere in the world
but be the opposite of those around you in this aspect and you will be one person fewer in this world who inflicts this form of violence called ignorance.
