The jury is mixed when it comes to coffee and fitness. The caffeine in coffee is a stimulant which can be a nice "pick-me-up" when you're fatigued and can increase your body's metabolism (a positive from a weight loss perspective). However, caffeine's down-sides include reduced absorption of nutrients and vitamins by your body of things like iron and potassium. It is also a diuretic which can lead to dehydration which can cause muscle cramps during vigorous workouts.

Personally, I believe that coffee in moderation isn't a bad thing. The boost that it gives you can be the difference of getting you into the gym to workout or not. I also find that a cup of coffee can fill you up and satisfy you when you're hungry so it may help you avoid snacking (be sure to not use any cream or sugar, though).

I quit drinking coffee because I went on a fast. I had to get sugar and caffeine out of my system for a few days prior to fasting. The fast was very cleansing and I did lose a lot of weight. However - since then - I did not get back onto caffeine - and it seems harder to keep weight off. I think it's because caffeine raises you metabolism and you have more energy and burn more calories. So - I'd say "No" - you should not stop drinking it if you want to lose weight.

Good luck!

No way! Coffee beans have almost no nutritional value which means no fat and no carbs. Just think of coffee as caffeinated water. Caffeine is great for you when you're trying to lose weight. It keeps you going and helps keep your metabolism running. All you really have to worry about is what you put into your coffee. For losing weight, black is best, but if you need additives, I suggest using a sugar substitute and low-fat creamer.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Coffee itself would not have a negative effect on weight loss efforts but if you use cream or sugar it could help to cut those out.
