we have a finepix camera right now, which works great, but we lost the USB cable that allows the camera to transfer pictures to the computer. we're going to ask the company to ship another to us, but my mom would like to get another camera anyway. we want something powerful that will take good pictures. i told her some of my friends have the canon powershot, but she said it's pretty small and she's not sure if it's "powerful" enough.

any suggestions on what camera to get?

The USB cable used by the finepix is the most common type there is. Your local consumer electronics store will be able to sell you a replacement.

If you like the finepix range I would take a look at the new S6000. This looks like a nice camera. Just stay away from the S9000/S95000 cameras, I have one and the pictures are just not good quality.

The size of the camera is not the point. I have a small Nikon Color Pix and my photos are great for anything I need to do. Look for things like megapixels and zoom.

Also, you can buy a USB cable at anyplace that sells cables, cameras, computers, etc. They run around $10.00 - $15.00 each, which is probably less than what the camera manufacturer is going to charge you. A USB cable is a USB cable.

Canon makes the best. Go to BestBuy or somewhere similar and take a look at all of them to find the one that suits you best. The Rebel is a good choice

What is it you mean by "powerful"? Anyway I would suggest any of the big name (canon, nikon, olympus, etc.) digital slr's with a good selection of lenses. Maybe even a Hasselblad or a mamiya645 with a digital back if you want to go even bigger.
