Pigmentation in your skin is where color does not take hold.
Pigmentations in your skin can be different color that never change. My Mr. is red headed and has freckles these are pigmentations...A scare looses it's color and I believe falls into the pigmentation catagory...
Best way I can explain it without going into the medical dictionary lol!

Melanin is a chemical in your skin (not ON it) that provides the color of your skin. It reacts with Ultra Violet light to become darker (tanning.)

There are some skin conditions that cause skin to become darker or lose color, and these affect the melanin content of your skin. Too much pigmentation is called hyperpigmentation, and too little hypopigmentation.
