i once saw a show where the guy put the ring on his girlfriends finger while she was sleeping, then he woke her up and said" honey, honey, i forgot to ask you something important
" and half asleep she saw the ring and was very excited. my friend jsut got engaged and her boyfriend was sooo sweet about it. she loves hiking and one weekend they went to her favorite park and he told her that he wanted to go on this really long trial that she didnt want to go on, but he said that if she goes, and makes it to the top, he'lll have a surprise for her and when she got to the top, there was a huge banner which said her name and will you marry me, and her whole family was waiting up their for them. it was very romantic.. she loved it! my other friend got engaged a few months ago and her boyfriend cleaned the whole apartment when she was at work and wrote will you marry me on the front window so when she drove up to the driveway she saw it and he was waiting for her dressed really nice with the ring!

i forget to mention two more...

my cousin just got engaged he rented out the resturant where they had their first date and it was really romantic.

my other friend went ring browsing, you know, just to look, and then she was like, oohhhh.. i love this ring and he told her to go feed the meter and when she came back to the store, he had bought the ring and proposed to her right there in the store!

Find something that is special between the two of you or special to her. My husband made me my very favorite dinner at home. He had candlelight, wine the whole works. I was completely oblivious the whole time. Then for desert he told me had had pumpkin pie, it was in the oven. I opened up the oven, saw it in there and when I turned around he was on one knee. It was great.

Another friend of mine got proposed to by her boyfriend when they had walked down to her favorite tree. She always went there to escape any problems she was having and since it was sacred to her he proposed there.

If she isn't shy, you can always go with the fancy dinner at a restaurant and propose in front of all those people. You may want to be positive that she'll say yes though. Also, if you are close with friends and family, have a group of them together and propose in front of everyone. That way they all feel included and you don't have to spend the night calling people on the phone.

Another idea, talk to her best friend so long as she isn't a big mouth and see if your girlfriend has ever mentioned an ideal proposal to her.

Best of luck to you!

I'm sure you guys have a favorite place to go together like a restaurant or just some hang out spot where other people are around to help you with your proposal. If it's an ice cream shop or restaurant you could coordinate something with the manager ahead of time and maybe have them write the famous "will you marry me?" in strawberry, chocolate or caramel syrup on her favorite dish to help you out or if it's somewhere else maybe you could have someone she's not familiar with come up and deliver a box larger than the ring box to her in the park, at her door, at work etc. and you will need to be out of view only until after the delivery--as she opens the box, make it fun and throw in a couple of other size boxes inside the larger one until she gets to the ring box--if you want to make it more unexpected, put the ring in one of those long slender bracelet boxes--she's guaranteed to be shocked if she's expecting to see a bracelet or anklet!!! Good Luck and God Bless. I'm sure you'll do great no matter what you do but it's true, us girls love romantic proposals! ~smile~

I was my uncle's best man and I talked about how he proposed to his wife in my Best Man speech. He went on a roller coaster with her and gave her the ring at the peak of the ride, just before they went down. She grapped that ring so tight that it made him laugh. Anyways, it was kinda bold, but very memorable.

bring flowers when you pick her up. Have a candle light dinner set up at the place you two met or at your favorite place to go together. Tell her how you feel about her and talk about when the two of you met and how you knew she was the one for you. Then get down on one knee and take her hand and ask her to make you the happiest man in the world and marry you. You can't lose. Good luck!

My husband propose with my favorite candy on valentines day, conversation hearts, it ment so much because he had to dig through 2 lbs of candy to find one that said Marry Me. Make sure that when you propose, you use some words to tell her how you feel about her. She is the love of your life, your soul mate, the world to you, she completes you, she had you at hello, you want to marry your best friend, she makes me a better person, she brings out the best in you, and you couldn't imagin life with out her. My husband is a hunter/fisher and his parents told him to date other people and he said that I was the fish he wanted mounted over his fireplace...for him that was romantic...but you need to be true to yourself and her. Good Luck!!

My hubby did this. We went to an arcade on the beach (obviously in the summer) but we went in one of the picture booths and he pulled the ring out on the 3rd picture and held it up. I was shocked.

or.... (a friend did this) Get 11 roses and one silk one. On the card put " I will love you till the last rose dies" and put the ring, securely, in the silk rose.

I took my wife to a place that was special to both of us where we had spent a lot of time when we had first met. If you have a "special place," take her there. And get down on your knees.

My fiance and I were hiking at a state park with our two young boys and his brother. He asked his brother to take a picture of us standing in front of a waterfall and he asked while his bro was taking pics. It was great to have pics of the moment.
