Absolutely not.
"Muslim" means one who submits, as in, to the will of God. It is a compliment.

No, as you found out from many others, A muslim is one who submits to their faith--Islam. Just as a Jew is to Juddaism, or how Christians are of Christianity, a Muslim is a follower of Islam.
For the person who responded to your question and said that the Quran has been changed greatly since its time, and therefore corrupted, is 100% false in every way. It is the ONLY holy book which has never been changed, even a single letter, since the time when it was revealed, And that's that. Without offending Christians or Jews, The Bible and Torah have been greatly changed and altered based on popular belief and has become VERY opinionated. That is why there is not one version of the Bible, but many that contradict one another. Also, it is claimed that there are many different translations of the Bible, but the same interpretation follows as a defense to why this is so. But why? Where is the sense in that?
This is a peaceful comment, so please don't cause friction within it.

No it's not. I know that "Mormon" is a derogatory name for people who prefer to go by Church of Latter Day Saints. Calling Muslims "Islamics, Islamists, or Islams" wouldn't be derogatory, it would just sound stupid. To refer to a Muslim as a Mohammaden though, would be very derogatory, as Muslims only worship God, and not, in anyway, worship Mohammed.

It's derogatory when those that follow Islam say anyone who believes in God are Muslims, even Jesus, Moses, Adam and Eve. Nothing could be further from the truth.
God Bless you and have a safe and Happy New Year.

No, people who follow the Islamic faith are called Muslims, just like Christians are Christian and Hindus follow the Hindu religion. There is nothing wrong with the word.

No. This is simply the term used to describe the people who follow the religion of Islam.
It's is the equivalent of "Christian" under the Christian faith. Or Buddhist under Buddhism.

well duhhh! yeah, just like jew is a deragatory term for TheEvareem or TheYeHoodah.
since these are strange new names given, from strange new g-ds, which are not found in TheTorah.
the root moos-at: deviated, deviate
moosleem, legaly deviated false wittness
and heck, they can't even get Yeeshmael's name right, more or less Yeeshlam. because even their Quran new testaments has been severly corrupted, by subtle beasts of the fields.
