I am going to layer my hair, but I am unsure of where to start the layers at. Btw, my hair is thin, straight, and is 2 inches below my shoulders. Should I start my layers at jaw-length?

With thin hair, are you sure you want to layer it? I had my hair layered for a while (I also have thin hair, and at one point had it down to mid back)... and I'm not sure it was such a good idea in retrospect.

That said - jaw-length as a start point will make for a very distinctive look... so if you want to stand out - that should work well.

From the tip of you nose down might be better - won't stand out as much...

And if you want to go pro, you can start from about an inch below the crown of your head... hard to do... but also very shapely...

Wish you success - just my ideas.

My hair is about the same legnth as yours, but it's sort of thick. My bangs are at the bottom of my eyes, so I sweep them off to the side. The girl that is going to cut my hair, said that she will start to cut my hair where my bangs stop. That way, my bangs sort of blend into the rest of my hair. So my layers are going to start about at my cheek bones.

I used to layer my hair starting at my jaw, maybe a little lower, and I always used to complain aobut my hair. It was always in my face, which I couldnt' stand. But now that I have my bangs in my face, I'm used to it, so I thought, "Why not get my hair the way I've wanted it for a long time now??"

I think that starting your layers at your jaw would look ok. But if you want more of a layered look, start the layers a little shorter then that. I'd say between your jaw and your cheek bones. Also if you get them done like that, you can take a flat iron and curl your hair out a little, for that layered flair look!

It depends on your facial shape, amount of volume you want, and how straight your hair is unless you want it spikey on top. Long layers is pretty hot looking, and texturizing gives lots of layers inside and underneath for wispier ends and a flippy spikey look. Thin hair is better looking when texturizing is done for more volume.

start from the bottom. when you have enough, stop.
i have layers and personally i like to be sure that my hair can still go in a ponytail when it needs to be.
