my hair is very heavy and has never held a curly or wavy style for more than 30 minutes up til now, even perms fall out straight away. i am bored of having poker straight hair and would love to have either a curly or wavy style for New Years Eve, that will last from 6pm til about 2am, has anyone got any advice for this? my hair is shoulder length, slightly layered, fine but with lots of hair, hence it is heavy to hold any real curly styles. any advice would be great.

Ok first off you need a new iron if possible! If you can get your hands on a Helen of troy or a Hot Tools I would highly recommend it... This is what professinals use! Make sure to get a spring iron and not a marcel... A marcel is highly difficult to work with! Get a cermaic iron so the heat penetrates the hair all the way through! Hot Tools irons have settings from 1 to 14 + you can increase the intesity of the heat on the iron itself! I would use a thermal protectant before applying heat... A great one is Kenras thermal protectant... It does the job and has a great hold factor! I have fine hair and I like to put a mousse in my hair before I blowstyle my hair! Fine hair is often soft and tends to go flat therefor pulling the curls down! After curling you can use an aerosol hairspray or even a gel spray to lock the curl in! Also A GREAT product is Matrix Sleek Water Free Lock Down Spray! After you have finished styling your hair and sprayed it... Spray this over your hair... What it does is resists humidity and that will help your hair from becoming frizzy or flat! Also make sure hair is fully dry before styling especially at the scalp! Good Luck to you!

Even I have had this problem. My hair is really thick and straight, frizzy too. One day I had just curled it and it was still frizzy so I had put some frizzing gel in it to get it un-frizzy. After that I just used a blowdryer to keep it in place. Last I sprayed on just a little hair spray and it worked wonderfully. It stayed even through the night.

So follow these directions:
1.Wash and Condition your hair
2. Use curler on wet hair and leave it just a little damp.
3. After you get it curled to desired style, put de-frizzing gel in it. (I reccomend Pantene Anti-Frizz)
4. Blowdry your hair until dry
5. After use only a little hair-spray to keep hair in sturdy form.

This really works!!! I do it a lot.

set your hair on really small rollers with strong setting lotion.do this in the morning or early afternoon.do not play with it once out as this will make the curl drop.
