OK now it is getting dumber and dumber. The ACLU is now sueing this town because they made it a crime to rent to Illegal aliens. Why is it wrong for the government to start doing its job?
I personally think that they did right, but, it should also state renting to anyone in commission of a crime, be it illegal aliens or dope dealers. Comments? Should ANYONE commiting a crime, no matter what, be bared from renting?

LOL Chee, so I am not to great in English, I still make over 100,000 a year. The ability to spell is not a indacator of knowledge. As for IQ I tested at 148 and you can look it up, that is quite high. I just suck at English.

The only question I have is how does the land lord know if a potential renter is illegal or not.

I agree, we should not rent nor sell to illegals. Determining who is and who is not illegal is another question. I would say that if the potential renter does not have valid US identification, then maybe that is a big clue.

If Farmers Branch has figured out a good way of determining legal status, then God bless the people of Farmers Branch and hopefully they triumph over the God forsaken people of the ACLU.

Here is why the ACLU can sue. Say you have a person who is Hispanic and wants to rent an apartment in Farmers Branch. Say for example that person was born in Farmer's Branch. Say for example he did not have his birth certificate because it got lost in a move or a fire or something. Say for example it would take him a month to get a new copy. All of this is very plausible, right? OK, now say he needs a place to rent right now because his lease is up or the roomate is moving out next week or he's getting evicted for too many parties. Still plausible, right? OK, so he goes to rent a place and they say no, we don't rent to illegals, no proof of citizenship, no apartment. But then the landlord would probaly rent to a person with the exact same situation who did not look Hispanic.

That is called racial discrimination and it is against the law.

I for the most part support the ACLU. They have done a lot of good. On the issue of illegal aliens, I disagree with them 100%. The government, which includes the state and town governments, has the right to enforce the law. If this is not true, then we should just burn all the law books right now and set all the prisoners free. I support every town like Branch, TX and Hazelton, Pa that are enforcing the laws the federal government isn't. The ACLU should fight for American citizens, not people who are invading our country. They have lost sight of what is right on this issue.

Cities and States across our country are only doing what the nuts in Washington will not do. Those that hire and or rent to illegal immigrants must pay a very high price. And as for the ACLU, at one time it worked for the good hard working people of America, now its a joke, the A witch is by the way America, should be droped, it no longer stands for America.

The problem falls into the realm of who is committing a crime. A person actively commiting a crime should not be able to rent or buy or sell legally. It is not however, the duty or jusridiction of a landlord to determine if someone is an illegal alien or not.
In this case it is not the government doing its' job, but passing the job off onto citizens.
If the government was doing its' job, there would not be illegal immigrants seeking to rent houses or apartments.

The ACLU are a bunch of wacky liberals that fight for the wrong side. They are still trying to get rid of a war memorial in San Diego - huge cross. Over 80% of voters want it but the ACLU "knows better" about these things - NOT!

Some people call the ACLU the American Communist Liberals Union, others vote for a re-hash to Mexican Civil Liberties Union(US branch(the only one there really is, I guess))Of America,
basically the whole brouhaha is about something called the North American Union, the latest crack-dream proposed by somebody that's set-for-life and likely won't end up footing the bill for it, or directly reaping the life-karma of this glorious and joyous 'union'.
One big crappy family, yessir, you can pick your nose, you can pick your friends, but you can't wipe your representatives off on the couch...

You may want to rethink your position regarding who is stupid and dumb, in several seconds I counted five misspelled words, four punctuation errors and several grammatical errors in your questions and some of the answers. Some people should get an education and they might not have to worry about the illegals getting their jobs. How are potential landlords supposed to find out who is committing crimes? A background check? What about the people who are pending convictions? What about people who have been convicted in the past of crimes like felony speeding, bad check writing and DUI's. How about those that have been convicted of misdemeanors like traffic convictions, should they be "barred" as well?
