This is because your man is ignorant !! simple !!!

Well only an ignorant man can think that his wife is slave and one should treat her badly....its nothing to do with his being muslim.......a Good muslim keeps her wife like a jewel, fulfill her rights....and give her respect !!
get your man educated and tell him wht islam orders about woman..I think he doesn't know even ABC of islam sorry to say !!

what part of Pakistan you are living btw?? Even pakistanis are not that ignorant and they have great sense of how to keep a wife with respect !!!

Well my husband is a Muslim but not a Pakistani. If he is so disrespectful why are you with him? I take it when you say "you people" you mean Muslims? I can tell you my husband and all his brothers and friends have nothing but respect for me. If anyone ever disrespected me my husband would sort them out. I suggest it is just the way your boyfriend is nothing to do with the religion. Simply leave him, you have no one to blame but yourself. People will only treat you like a door mat if you lie down for them. I suggest you get up and go.

One would first have to determine whether Muslim Pakistani men are disrespectful. To do that, one would have to decide which Muslim Pakistani men were referred to, and to also define "disrespectful." We must determine whether a condition actually exists before we explore why.

I am a Pakistani guy and I know alot of my Pakistani friends married to white british women and living their lives happily together.

Please don't degrade the whole community just because you're going through a bad patch. It'll probably end soon, or it may require a tough decision from the both of you to take for the betterment of your future.

In a truely Islamic society women have the following rights in Islam:
1. The right and duty to obtain education.

2. The right to have their own independent property.

3. The right to work to earn money if they need it or want it.

4. Equality of reward for equal deeds.

5. The right to express their opinion and be heard.

6. The right to provisions from the husband for all her needs and more.

7. The right to negotiate marriage terms of her choice.

8. The right to obtain divorce from her husband, even on the grounds that she simply can't stand him. (pls note that God deeply frowns upon divorce as a solution unless there is hardly any other alternative but it does not mean that men have more right to divorce their wives than women do.)

9. The right to keep all her own money (she is not responsible to maintain any relations).

10. The right to get sexual satisfaction from her husband.

11. custody of their children after divorce.

12. to refuse any marriage that does not please them

and more...

for Christian women too ..
1 Cor 14:33b-35,37 — As in all churches of the saints. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

side note for me; I personally would rather my woman be a partner I to stand beside me in life, maybe that is why I reject this and am lonely.

Your man is an idiot! You should stand up to him everytime he makes his demands and only then he will respect you. Not all men are like this and he is walking all over you because he knows you won't do anything about it! Don't let him take advantage of your good nature!
