As of last time I knew it was technically legal to use the same copy of certain microsoft products on seperate machines (i.e a work machine and home machine) granted that the copies were not in use at the same time. However, it's likely this has changed and is just asking for problems.

I would suggest using OpenOffice instead, it is for the most part compatible with MSOffice and would allow transfer between the two. Plus there's no such issue with the licensing as it is distributed under open source license.

My PC came with a trial version of office 2003 on it which lasted for 30 days. To unlock it (buy the full version) i forget what it cost but it was much more than i was willing to pay. So i went on Ebay and bought the last version of office, i believe its called Office 2000. Got it for like 20 - 30 bucks. To me its good enough, it might not be as up to date as 2003 but i dont care. It works great for what im doing.
BTW, i dont know what the latest version of office retails for now, maybe the price has dropped on it. Im not certain. What i did took place back in 2003.

YOU CAN"T DO THAT. Look instead just take office setup from somewhere and do it. But you can't just transfer microsoft office to another computer.
