the problem is still there because the surgery was not 100% guaranteed. The area is still num and he keeps telling me this will go away, it has been 6mos. since the surgery. My self esteem has went way down since the keloids.

I did not know I healed with keloids because I never had surgery before. The doctor did not even mention that I may keloid. I had surgery on my ear,it was ruptured so the doctor went in to close it and he went in from the back of my ear, that is where the keloid is at where he made the incision.

No, you can't sue. You have no case. Especially since it is likely considered an "elective" surgery to repair the rupture. I had surgery on my hand almost 2 years ago and it is still numb in spots. But the scar has finally gotten smaller. You should try an over the counter scar treatment cream to help.

You can sue, but you will not win. You sign away most of your rights before the surgery. In those papers you signed was a clause relieving the surgeon of any liability for anything other than gross negligence on his part---and that will be extremely hard to prove. There have been cases where people have dies and the doctor was found not guilty of any wrong doing. You will spend more on lawyers than you will ever collect. The plastic surgeon will not agree to a partial refund but will offer to do a touch up surgery at your expense.

I work for a Plastic. Can you give me more info about what type of surgery you have|? And even before you say any more, you should know that people of African American descent have a higher ratio when it comes to developing keloids. Your surgeon is right that there isn't too much that they can do BUT he should have also warned you about the possibility BEFORE the surgery. You will have to wait a few months but you may want to ask him about a kenelog injection.

Did you know you healed with keloid scars? THis will be a point of contention in any lawsuit against a plastic surgeon. You don't say where on the body the surgery was performed, but some nerves ar cut in an operation and take some taime to heal. I suspect from your last sentence that your self esteem issue stems from the fact this was facial surgery. I"m sorry about that. You will have to find other ways to boost your self esteem...helping others, making them feel good about themsleves...reaching out to others.

The problem is that keloids are a possible consequence in any surgery. You can have them removed but, there is a possibility of them returning. I don't know what kind of surgery you had but, when you cut nerves, it takes time for the feeling to return as the nerves heal. It is a possibility that full feeling not return. That is also a consequence of surgery. I had surgery on fibroids a couple of years ago and the feeling has not completely returned in my stomach.
If the keloid is on your ear, most of the time you can have that removed. It depends on where it is and how large it is. I knew a girl who had a lot of them (not from surgery) on her ears. She had them removed.
Don't worry about it. Don't let someting like that effect your self esteem. I'm sure that you are probably too pretty and smart for that. Besides, people don't care what your ears look like. Just who you are (the good ones anyway). :-)

No you cannot sue for keloids. The Keloids are 100% your body's doing. Some people's skin tissues over react to surgical procedures and begin hyper-scarification. The over production of scar tissues results in the large, bumpy, thick tissue that is associated with Keloids. It isn't the surgeons fault. I believe if you read over the paperwork you signed it will be mentioned in there. "All plastic surgery comes with the risk of scars"
What type of surgery did you have? Because you mention loss of feeling I'm guessing breast work? If that is the case then the contract you signed certainly will mention that permanent numbness and inability to perform breast feeding are possible side effects. Depending on the surgery you may be able to correct some of the scarring.
