I am not talking about the 30D or any of the 1D series, I am looking for a Full frame canon that can do what the 5D does, but I've read I shouldn't buy the 5D now b/c it will be replaced soon... Last year, I bought the 20d and it was replaced within two months by the 30d... for just a few $$ more, I don't want to repeat that this time.
Has anyone had any insider info?

I paid $300 more for my Nikon D200 than it sells for now. The Canon 20D is currently just $900 retail. That's the way it goes with dSLR bodies - they're outdated 3 months after they ship. The Canon 30D was outdated since BEFORE it shipped by the 10-megapixel 400D (which came before it).
Here's a thread with 60+ informed guesses about a 5D replacement but nobody knows anything for sure:

With digital cameras and computers, if you need it now, just get it. And if you can wait, wait: next year you can probably chose between the same model for less money or an an upgraded model for the same price.

No insider info, but here's what I'm betting....

Look at the competition. Do they have anything coming close to the 5D (I don't know, because I'm a Nikon guy)? Check Nikon, Sony/Konica (formerly Minota), Panasonic (using Leica lenses) and Pentax. If they have a camera that will soon compete, then it forces Canon back to the drawing board to put improvements in. The 5D is, from what I know, a very good camera and a good seller, so it's not likely they will just update it without reason.
