You have to want to do it for yourself. I was always so lazy and weighed 215 pounds. One day I wanted to change my life and was motivated to diet and exercise and am now 115 pounds. I didn't have anyone to push me or help me. I did it all on my own. It's a mental thing I guess.

Excercising boosts your metabolism and gives you more energy in general. I say, do things that you both enjoy, and get you moving. Like a walk in the woods or a swim in the lake or pool, maybe some tennis or basketball with a friends. Physical activites will help you overcome laziness. If you really want to get out there and get moving, you will. It's a case of "mind over matter". Good luck!

get him involved in an activity that requires commitment like a sport or a class! when other people are expecting you to be there, you are more likely to get there. he may even make friendships that will furthur encourage his involvement. eventually, he may grow to love the feeling of working out and being in shape and will exercise with or without friends.

just get him into something he can have fun doing!

Theres a good chance that if he becomes more active, his energy level will increase and he will want more physical activity. However, its up to him to make the decision to work out. Nobody can be forced.

motivation is the most important thing...find a hobby to express himself, a job/housework in which he is successful and show appreciation for his work however poor it may be... make him feel useful to family/group/neighbours, establish long-term activities which are achievable, but start from smaller ones, make sure he plan work carefully, praise and exhibit the results of his work, tell him how valuable his contribution is ...can you do all this? good luck...

Eventually he'll decide if he wants to keep up any activity or not. It's really great that you care enough to get him started though. Hopefully he'll gain enough self-esteem from what you've encouraged him to do so far.

Generally, if you work out on a regular basis you get more active.
