What is greed? Is it just a religious term invented by religious people?

What if no one desired wealth, or to phrase it in religious-speak, what if no one was "greedy"? Would we still be banana loving furballs?

Greed is a word, to be specific, a noun descriptive of excessive desire, most often for money, but not limited to that. It is derived from the Anglo-Saxon "graedig." Since it refers to what is often considered a moral shortcoming, many religious people use it. It is not, however, a specifically religious word.

If nobody was greedy nobody would die from hunger.
I wouldn't say greed was a religious word. Many religious are greedy. Greed is more of a humanitarian word. Many fine atheists
care about their fellow man and do many generous deeds to lesson the burden. Nothing wrong with ambition and looking out for your family but I don't believe in using everybody to get to the top.

Greed is when enough is never enough. It is a term in morality. It's root is also in Greek philosophy, especially where the philosophers indicate that state leaders should be separated from material possessions and not desire them (lack greed).
