Because I refuse to allow her to ride with her boyfriend on his Harley. I checked out his record (using FOIA), and while it is spotless, I just can't bear the thought of what could happened to her if he got in a motorcycle accident while she was on it with him. Am I in the right, or am I just worrying too much?

Just make sure you told her why she can't ride with him instead of just saying "no" she may respect you more if you do/did. If she knows its because you love her she may be more understanding. If she still is Mad just ignore it. She'll get over it eventually.

Motorcycles are dangerous especially if you live in a high traffic area. There is definietly more risk of accidents than in cars and the affects of the accident are more severe than a car accident. It also depends on what yo are comfortable with. Maybe if you grew up around motorcycles it wouldn't be a big deal for you. If your daughter isn't 18 its in your right to tell her no and for good reason. She can get hurt.

When she is an adult she will be able to make her own choices about who she rides with and what on. Unfortunately now she has to live under your rules and if you say no Harley then NO HARLEY.
She'll appreciate your love and concern later in life. Stand your ground, you are doing the right thing being a parent, not a friend.

Letting her ride it even though he has a clean record would be like saying "He's got a gun, but he's very responsible and hasn't shot anyone. Yet."
You can be the most responsible person in the world, but accidents still happen. I think you are very smart for not allowing her to ride with him.

First - so what. LEt her be mad at you. Mine get mad at me all the time. Tell her why she cannot ride the Harley. Besides - she'll do it behind your back anyways - but make sure she knows how you feel about it.
For me - I tell mine that I had a friend killed on a bike - that usually ends it - but they will do it behind my back. It's kids.

How old is she? if she is over 18 let her live her life if she is under than explain to her why and tell her you are sorry but...that is your rule!! I think if she is 17 then I would say ok to it if you knew when and were they are going. Other than that NO

You are her parent and ultimately responsible for her as long as she is under 18 and living under your roof. Let her me mad all she wants. When she is a parent she will understand.

i would agree with you not letting her! 2 of my dad's friends ( who have been riding safely pretty much forever) died within about a month of each other in random riding accidents!

You have every right to be concerned. As long as you say no she should respect your wishes and understand it's for good reason. Good Luck
