Yes, but Canada still has the queen fetish. It's still considered a commonwealth nation.

Canada is an independent nation is the respect that they do not pay taxes to any country other than Canada, they are responsible for their own legislative process. Thus not a colony.

Canada is still a member of the Commonwealth, which is more of a collection of colonies settled by the British, we still do have a governor General (representative of the queen) However they are little more than a figure head.

In 1867, Canada was granted independence from England and became an independent nation. Some countries had to fight for independence, others never had to. Canada, in an effort to recognize both founding nations became officially bi-lingual back in the 1970's. As far as how they became independent, they asked and England said okay. If England had refused then Canada, like the U.S. would have had to fight for independence. We still have the Queen(or king) as a figurehead but they have no say or authority in Canada except for ceremonial purposes. Australia is another independent nation, like Canada that never fought for independence but was originally a British colony.

Head of state in Canada, alongside with other Commonwealth member-countries is Her British Royal Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II. Nevertheless, Canada is absolutely independent country and is not a part of the UK or France. It is so simple. Why you are asking that? What you don't like in Canada. This is one of the best countries on the earth! No doubt.

What do you mean by employing Canada is French? French is one in each and every of the two official languages in Canada. Canada was a colony of the British Empire, in simple terms like how area of united states of america(13 colonies) have been. in simple terms with the aid of fact nearly all of Canadians are of French descent, that does no longer mean Canada is French. i'm assuming you're an American. maximum human beings are of German descent, does that mean u.s. is German?

Canada is an independent nation, but with the English monarch as head of State ( or the governor General), Canada is like Australia, it has it's own Prime minster, own version of the Wesminster government system, it is just independent... But France didn't own the WHOLE of canada, the UK owned most or all of Canada, but why do you need to know this?? a canadian would already know this.... but your not are you? (well niether am i but i love canada)

Yes. Queen Elizabeth is still our head of state though, by choice. France - War of 1775 when Britain defeated the French colonial soldiers. Britain - Statute of Westminister, 1931.
