"But I am uncertain if this is a kid thing or is it something personal"
Does that really matter? The kid egged your house! Take legal action now and find out the motive later.

If you know who the kid is, talk to the parents. You should ask them (respectfully) to pay to have the mess cleaned up.
Kid thing or not, you should not have to put up with ANYONE throwing garbage on to your property.
If the parents do not respond, take photographs of the mess and then call the police. If the parents deny it was their child, you may have to come up with proof or other witnesses who can verify that it was that particular child. The police may not offer do do much, but you can ask them to, at least, speak with the parents about what is their responsibility.
If all else fails, you can sue the parents in small claims court. Keep track of all the expense of cleaning up the eggs and any other damage done. Keep receipts and good records of the dates of the incidents and when the clean up occured. If it happens again, before you sue, keep records of that.
File the paperwork and pay the fees required. Keep the paperwork for that, as well. If everything is done properly, you and the parents will get a chance to tell a judge everything that happened. The side with good records has a better chance of winning. If you win, the parents will be made liable for all the costs of cleaning up and for repairing any damages the child causes.
This expense will probably teach the parents about their responsibility for a child's behavior.
I don't know about the small claims court procedures in your state, but the link below should give you an idea about the procedures for how it's done in California.

If you know who is doing this, you owe it to yourself and the kid involved to report it. He or she will be held responsible for any property damage and will probably be sentenced to some community service. You need to do this before the kid progresses on to more serious offenses. Maybe next time it will be a car window smashed with a tire tool. Letting them get away with what they are doing without consequence sends the wrong message.

It means:
You need to get out and clean-off the eggs from your property quickly and entirely.
You have just another obnoxious kid, out of control, that has targeted you or a family member
You need to get to the bottom of this problem -- Legal action may be required -- you might have your parents talk to his parents.
You need to contact you local police department if this problem persists.

Just good old fashioned criminal mischief. Annoying yes.
My suggestion: Just clean it off and ignore it. Sooner or later, (if you don't catch him) the little twerp will get tired of doing it and move on. Not only that, but egg throwing can get to be an expensive habit. But you might want to file a report with your local PD just in case he decides to start throwing stuff that causes damage though.

If the egg leaves damage to your property than it is a crime known as criminal mischief. If the kid is caught it could be charged as disorderly conduct. I would notify your local pd and ask for a close patrol of the area if it happens again.

Humpthy Dumpty had a great fall jokes. This use to happen to me all the time when I moved into this new subdivision. I called the authorities - cops and this boy and his friends QUIT egging my house. Imagine your house egged in the Winter time, frozen eggs on living rooms windows PHEW what a job to clean.
It was not only one boy it was several boys that kept stealing eggs from a certain individual in the neighbourhood. Go talk to parents and also see who lost eggs and explain what is happening to you.

kids usually do it just to mess with you, but idk if this kid is constantly doing this then maybe you should talk to some authority. also you definantly have to make sure you know for a fact that the same kid is doing it or else there is really nothing you can do
