I can tell you about the one here in my town in Iowa...NOT good.

I was called for an interview for their lead teacher position in their infant room (I was currently working in that position at a different daycare) and when I was offered the job they offered me $6.50 an hour...$4 an hour less than my current job paid. In my opinion you get what you pay for, so if you only pay your caregivers that much, that's the quality of care your child will get. I didn't take the position.

A friend of mine also had a bad experience with them...she when for a visit, she was considering taking her 18 month old there. When she walked into the toddler room the teacher didn't even look up at her, or greet her. It was nap time and the kids were in their cribs, there were 8 kids in the room with one teacher (DHS regulations in Iowa are a strict 1-4 ratio in that age range) and two of the kids were crying while the teacher sat there reading a book. My friend walked right back out of the daycare.

Not that I'm saying that they are all that way, but that's how the one here is and it was supposed to be great (it's one of the most expensive ones around).

Good luck and do be very thorough in your search :)

I've lived in both places and prefer by far San Francisco. Though Los Angeles is the hub of west coast and many people enjoy the weather there, SF has a charm that is really lacking from LA. I lived in SF for 10.5 years and wished I had stayed. SF has everything that LA has but SF is smaller and is more friendly to walking if you like that. Public Transportation is some of the best in the entire nation - I never needed to use my car, except to go to Marin County or to San Jose. The coastline there is extremely beautiful. And Dining Out? It'll take you years to explore all the possiblities. The Downtown area is often called a "mini-Manhattan". It has a sort of east coast feel (or so I've been told by many I've met who transplanted from the east coast).
