I'd like to get opinions from other girls who work in a retail store about this situation. There is a girl I have seen a couple of times at a store I shop who I like and would like to ask her out. It's just that everytime I see her at the store, she is always busy working and there are always people around so there is no privacy to talk to her plus I don't want to get her into trouble at work. Usually in the past when I have asked out a girl, I usually talk to for a while first but I don't have that opportunity in this case because I don't know her outside the store she works at. What I'd like to ask is: is it okay for a guy to just ask for your number right away without talking to you - such as "Hi, my name is Chris, can I have your number so we can talk later?". If you are a girl and a guy asked you this quickly for your # would it make you feel uncomfortable or would it not matter if you liked him? Which is better - small talk then ask for # OR get straight to the point?

Write her a note and include your email address, and phone number if she is interested she will reply to you and if she isn't she won't. This way you won't be putting her in an awkward position and plus it is kind of a cute approach as well, which will give her a nice opinion of you. Good luck.

Hi. I don't work in retail, but I have a suggestion. Why don't you buy something cute from the store she works at. Then, while you are at the check-out, you can strike up a conversation and ask her out. You will have her undivided attention! Then, if you're feeling like it's a positive meeting, give her the item you just bought for her at the store. (Similar to what happened in the movie "Shopgirl.")

Depending on what department she is working in, ask her for help finding something in her department. Then talk to her a bit, just a little while she is helping you. If there is something small you could buy, you could just give it back to her after you pay for it and include your phone number and a short note saying you would like to get a cup of coffee with her after her shift and to call you if she would like to get together. Then let her get back to work. If she doesn't take you seriously, try it again. Just keep having her help you unless she seems uncomfortable. Then just leave her alone, or she might report you for stalking her. Just try your best to be dashing and debonaire(sp?). Like in the old romantic movies. Very romantic. I have to go cool off now. I say yes. She will be flattered. You could also think of a creative way to ask her out. Like maybe go in and ask her a silly questions about something in the store. Then maybe give her your phone number. Some girls might get scared and say something silly and blow it...so if you give her your number, she can think about it and then call you. But either way you do it...I think she will be flattered and it can be a lot of fun. And hey, what do you have to lose?

Buy a nice card, tell her you find her beautiful and would like to get to know her better, but she is always to busy at work to talk. Give her your number so she can call you when she has free time.

Write her a quick note telling her you know how she's busy but you would really like to get to know her more. Leave your number and hope for a call from her. Just pass it to her as she helps you. Make sure you hand write it on nice stationary and put it in an envelope.

if you want to ask her during the work time then you should get straight to the point, but you can always wait for her shift to end and meet her out of the store...anyway, if she likes you she'll give you a number either way
