Very good point. We are to be Christ's arms, feet, heart - we are to show His compassion, love, mercy, forgiveness, etc. We need to love the sinner and not the sin. We need to direct them to God's Word. Not our criticism of their lifestyle. To be frank, it is not our opinion that matters. We need to love them and help them see the truth in love.
Thank you for bringing this to light.
God bless you....

You are right. And, thankfully, not all Christians are like this. But, I think that Christianity is too cheap, in America. Some people get religion and nationality confused. Yes, I'm an American. Yes, we are Christians. And it is so cheap, that people don't really care too much about what they are doing. I had a laugh when a friend told me I was being fundamental in my thinking and beliefs. Funny, since his church had the word 'Fundamental' in its name. Try going to another country. Where church was banned. People have a greater conviction, and show their true colors. Honesty and love are very apparent. And you are stuck in fundamentalism....hehehe

it's just another case of christians using their religion to opress others. they will say they love the sinner but not the sin, but unless the person they deem to be commiting the sin conforms they will be shuned. im glad they dont (as far as i know) condemn people with blue eyes becouse id be in trouble. religion is a good excuse to justify getting rid of the things that you dont care for.
im posting a link to a really extream x'ian site this is how alot of x'ians feel about the topic of homosexuality. it's shocking to see the way some people think. remember this is the product of a loving god.

Some Churches do not believe Homosexuality is a sin. It is that act of sexual relations outside the bonds of marriage that is sin, but homosexual relations outside the bonds of marriage are no more of a sin then heterosexual relations outside of marriage. Where the catch 22 is that no church accepts homosexual marriage. BUT being homosexual is not a sin, nor do they need to be "turned straight" which is a ridiculous concept.
Being homosexual is not a sin nor should it be condemned by the Christian world.

We should love people for what they do.....not who they are.
Jesus hung out with people that his society condemned. He was trying to show the big wigs of the time that love, peace, and tolerance are not just abstract ideas. He was brave enough to actually practice what he was preaching!!
Many Christians are too busy being holier than thou, thinking that they are going to heaven/obeying God to even realize that they themselves are not really following the teachings of Christ.
( check out the story of the good Samaritan)
I think that Jesus would be happier with Christians if they all went out and did things as he did. Volunteering a little time to the sick, poor, and other "socially unaccepted" folks would win more people over to them than just threatening the with hell ever will!

Not all christians shun, I don't... but for those who do it's probably because they're afraid and come from a christian traditional background. It's not always easy to be Jesus like... I mean we human and sin.

The "love one another" means Christians love Christians, not homosexuals. Homosexuals have been abandoned by God (Romans 1:24ff), why should we second guess God?
You must not apply all Scripture in a universal way-there is context to every passage. If you miss the context-you miss the Scripture.

Just following the word. Sorry if it goes against your grain. Feel free to follow the Koran. Freedom of religion you know. I have nothing against drunks either. I've been that way myself but I wouldn't want to die that way. I only know how I must live. I can't tell another what to do. Thats between them and God. I'm not the Judge.

The Bible does not call particular attention to homosexuals as a group to be ostracized or hated by Christians. Moreover, it does not teach that God will punish homosexuals or any of his creatures, by burning them in a fiery hell forever.
However, the Scriptures do set forth the moral standards of our Creator, which oftentimes run counter to modern-day mores. Homosexual acts, heterosexual sex between unmarried persons, and bestiality are all condemned in the Bible. (Exodus 22:19; Ephesians 5:3-5) God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of such sexual practices.
Regarding acts of homosexuality, God’s Word pointedly says: “This is a hateful thing.” (Leviticus 18:22, The New Jerusalem Bible) God’s Law to Israel stipulated: “When a man lies down with a male the same as one lies down with a woman, both of them have done a detestable thing. They should be put to death without fail.” (Leviticus 20:13) The same punishment was prescribed for those committing bestiality, incest, and adultery.
The apostle Paul was inspired to describe homosexual acts as expressions of “disgraceful sexual appetites” and as “contrary to nature.” He writes: “That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error. And just as they did not approve of holding God in accurate knowledge, God gave them up to a disapproved mental state, to do the things not fitting.”
The Scriptures offer no apologies, no concessions, no ambiguity; homosexual practices, adultery, fornication, are all repulsive in God’s sight. Accordingly, true Christians do not water down the Bible’s position on “disgraceful sexual appetites” merely to become more popular or more acceptable to modern culture. Nor do they agree with any movement dedicated to the promotion of homosexuality as a normal life-style.
When religious leaders campaign for the ordination of homosexuals and Lesbians, what effect does this have on members of their churches, especially the young people? Is it not an inducement to experiment with sex outside marriage? In contrast, God’s Word urges Christians to “flee from fornication.” (1 Corinthians 6:18) If a fellow believer falls into such sin, loving help is given with a view to restoring the person to God’s favor. (James 5:16, 19, 20) What if this help is rejected? The Bible states that unless such ones repent, they ‘will not inherit God’s kingdom.

It's true what you said about the prostitute. But after she mfound out God's will she stoped doing what's wrong.
God doesn't hate them. He hates what they do and that's how we, true Christians should do.
It's a big sin being gay. There's no excuse for that.
