For dogs of that size a large back yard is best. If you don't have access to a yard, you will have to provide plenty of alternate exercise. Both Boxers and Goldens have a very loving, dedicated personality. They make great family dogs. But they are very energetic, and will bore easily. But the good news is, they are generally easy to train, and they will work their heart out trying to please you. I don't know if you have other animals, but be aware that some boxers are known for their aversion to cats...it's a breed trait. They also, to varying degrees, drool a great deal and shed a great deal. Since your dog is a mix, it may or may not have these traits.

Those dogs need plenty of open space to run and exercise, or they will get fat and lazy and very sick. Boxers like to run, and so do golden retrievers, so you will have plenty of fun throwing a frisbee and having the dog catch it in the air. They're fun and active dogs, but you need to keep them exercised.

Thumbs down...another designer dog.
Unless this is a rescue dog from a shelter who just so happens to be a mix of golden and boxer, your friend bought a designer mutt.
Yes, this dog will have buckets of endless energy, especially in his younger years. You should provide him with space to run and games to play. A simple daily walk will not be enough.
That's all I have to say.
