I'm a Wellness Nurse and by the way, valium is not a narcotic!
It's a benzodizapam that can be addictive if abused only. Anyways make an appointment with your doctor and just tell her the truth, that's all ,
and she should be understanding especially since your a nurse.

First of all ADHD and anxiety disorders are differential diagnoses. Bipolar Dx, Anxiety Dx and ADHD – stats/comorbidity rates would indicate that this combo is unlikely. I STRONGLY recommend that you get a second opinion! Research shows that diagnosis and intervention significantly changes for approximately 40% of folks when they seek second opinions. But please, get it from someone more qualified than your general practitioner! Medical school really does not train PCP’s very thoroughly in psychiatric diagnosis. See a psychiatrist for the second opinion, or if the wait is too long, go see a psychologist and have him/her then consult with your seemingly diagnosis happy PCP. If you were “Bipolar”, the cocktail of Prozac with Adderall probably would have caused more problems because of how they work. Taking them for 8 months, with side effects limited to problems sleeping and blood pressure makes me lean away from the Bipolar Dx - but of course more information is needed. Bipolar Dx is very rare, but terribly over diagnosed by careless and/or ignorant doctors. I would think that many individuals truly suffering from Bipolar Disorder would probably experience a hypomanic/manic episode on Prozac and Adderall – you (per your report) did not. The fact that you did okay and held it together from March to October with problems starting in November could substantiate a mood disorder but not the ADHD. Your age and other health problems are relevant and may be a factor in what is going on and help with the diagnostic picture. The Yahoo user 'Gardensallday' - above - gives some good information as well. 1)Definitely get a second opinion from a psychiatrist who specializes and knows much more about this stuff than a PCP. 2)You may or may not have a Bipolar Disorder – these are rare. 3)Although possible, it is unlikely that you have all this stuff you are getting meds for. Be cautious - Medication given for one symptom might be exacerbating another. Adderall can cause/exacerbate anxiety, and mania; Prozac (without a mood stabilizer) can exacerbate/cause hypomanic behavior and mania, etc. 4)Did I mention getting a second opinion?? =0) Best of luck!

Explain exactly why you think you need them. Do you have panic attacks? Been through anything stressful lately? Rx's are not a long term solution, but can get you through a short time. As a nurse, you should know that certain meds are addictive. Then you have more problems than before.

Maybe your doctor does not see the issue as strongly as you do. Visit your doctor specifically on this issue alone and if she still does not get the point go to a different doctor. Another suggestion you can get almost anything off the Internet and you don't even have to use your real name.

Docs are often leary of giving people medications like that especially if they are habbit forming. You should probably get a referal to a psychiatrist from your M.D. and tell them what's going on and let them prescribe the proper medication.

Have you tried just a regular antidepressant? They do the same thing, just take 2 weeks to start working. They are very easy to get from a doctor since they are not controlled.

ask help from a psychologist, find causes of stress and reduce them, are you addicted to medication? taking meds will help long as you are in a bad condition but you must fight against taking it...see your psychiatrist, it will help pass the bad times, but use your mind to control your body, find the cause of your fears and eliminate it...
