I do strongly believe in God, and the power of prayer, and all the Saints, but also in evolution and the big bang. Also I believe that there is a good chance of life on other planets, as, in my opinion, it would be highly improbable, and now in this day and age almost irrational to think that we are the only living creatures in this vast and rapidly expanding universe. And I am pro-choice, because I believe it would be better for a child to be sent straight to God rather than have to be born into, for example, a family with irresponsible and uneducated parents. Oh, but wait, what if the second coming or some great person were meant to be born and was aborted?! I quote from an answer I saw just a little while ago from a pro-choice Christian, "Well, I simply refuse to believe that God would send us a great man knowing full well that he would never be born. God knows everything that is, everything that was, and everything that will be, NOTHING can catch him by surprise."

So, having said that, is it still possible to consider myself a Catholic?

To kellyspice86, I do not believe that the earth "spontaneously" appeared on its own. How can you get something, out of nothing? I believe God sort of made the big bang happen, if that makes sense. And secondly, we did not evolve from "apes", as you call them. Apes, monkeys, and humans all share a COMMON ANCESTOR, which was most definitely not an "ape". That would be the same thing as saying that we evolved from humans! Did you miss 6th grade science class?

Yeah, you could be Catholic. (Before I read the part about Catholicism in your question, I was thinking that you would be Catholic.) The last Pope released a statement saying he was okay with evolution and such. I read an article by Stephen J. Gould recently about spending time at the Vatican with Catholic priests and how they all pursued science and could understand the problems with science and religion in the USA. Many Catholics use birth control, and some know that their dogma doesn't effect non-Catholics. You're thoughts about abortion are very mature, and I hope you can share your theory with others.

You do realise that your two beliefs conflict, if you believe in the bible then you would have to accept the teaching that God CREATED heaven and earth, and that earth did not spontaneously appear on its own....
And also the bible says that God formed adam 'out of dust', not from an ape.
So I guess you have to choose.... can't have it both ways.

How about no label? Consider yourself a spiritual person who has educated herself and chosen what she believes to be right for her.

you should consider your self a disbeliever of TheG-D of Avraham, Yeetzak, Yaacov, and TheSon of Man Adam. and you should consider yourself a believer in strange new pretend true science g-ds in strong delusions. you know the subtle expert beasts of the fields mentioned in The Little Book, Parashas Bereeshees. which is TheLittle Book, mentioned in TheBook of Revelation.

Right or wrong, you sound like a thoughtful person. I don't think there is anything wrong with questioning the stuff we are told.

If you think like that, trust me, you don't want to be a catholic. worship god or whatever you want in your own way. organized religion is a scam.
