Dobermans and weimaraners.
I like to do field trials and hunt so the weims are great at that.
And for a personal companion a dobe is one of the best dogs I have ever had. They can be tought to train but they are well worth the effort.

DOBERMANS!, without a doubt. They are so loyal and affectionate. Some people refer to them as "Velcro" dogs because they love to be physically close to their owner. They are extremely intelligent, energetic (however they are able to control themselves, unlike those PSYCHO labs), and contrary to popular belief, if properly socialized, are WONDERFUL with children. Also, because they are the only breed specifically bred for personal protection, they devote themselves to you and have an uncanny ability to separate the good strangers from the bad ones. They are wonderful search and rescue dogs, therapy dogs, seeing eye dogs, police dogs, and for the hunter, they can even be trained to point and retrieve or follow a scent trail. All that and an easy care coat!

Chows, I had a great chow, black tongue (only other animal to have one is a grizzley bear) affectionate, cute, loyal, protective. She was gentle as a lamb and I really loved her. She passed away several years ago.

Sis had a great dog, yellow lab, smart, playful, even-tempered, tolerant and patient, just a wonderful dog.

Daughter has an Australian Shepherd, SMART dog (smarter than some people I know) playful, smart, friendly, smart, good with kids, oh, did I mention smart...

Poodles. They are the smartest dogs that you can have. Although I am getting a Schnauzer in a few weeks. The Wife hates the poor Poodle breed.

I have a small puppy Chihuahua and sometimes I'll be the littlest kid with my dog and marvel at his ears and his nose and how he looks at me.
This is my favourite puppy in the entire world!!

Labrador Retriever. (yellow lab) I think they are the "all-american" dog. Maybe all dogs are like this, but when you leave the house for all of 5 minutes, when you return, they behave like you've been gone for a month

That is difficult: I have two, miniature schnauzers and miniature poodles. Both breeds have loads of personality and they don't shed. I have a miniature poodle now and I love him to death.

I love all dogs, but I have found that poodles are very smart, they don't shed and are so cute and affectionate.
