The American press just talks about soldier deaths, but because so many traditionally military jobs are now being performed by supposed contractors, I think that those deaths--which in any other conflict WOULD be counted as casualties--go unreported. Is there any source for an accurate count of American casualties then, that would include all of these people and not just the American citizens actually serving in the military when killed?

An unselfish man has dedicated his spare time to this fairly detailed and accurate reporting of the Iraq war.

You know damn well that information like that will never be released by our Gov't and if an outside agency posts any figure not "in-line" with our National Security than it is scrutinized into oblivion. Controlling actual data helps sway public opinion. And when we only have 6 major media conglomerates providing rhetoric and watered down stories to the masses--finding the truth is almost impossible. It took a bunch of experts risking their lives outside the green zone in order to get the most basic tally for Iraqi civilian deaths--655,000+. Look how quick Bush and his Regime jumped on the merits of that report.

You start seeing the pictures of coffins and caskets draped with American flags and support for war goes away.

You aren't going to get an accurate count because the numbers go by who's reporting it. If it's liberal reporting it's way higher and if it's conservative it's a lot lower. And those not in the military aren't considered war dead so they don't deserve to be counted with those in military altho I think it's wonderful the work some of them are doing.

One half of one per cent per annum; approximately the same rate as their former school mates who are at home.

I think there is a media ban on reporting all the facts

Otherwise why wouldn't they have done so by now?
