Nope Conviction

2006-12-26 05:52:19 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Religious faith circumvents being true to yourself.

Why understand the moral choices you make when you can just follow them without question? Why learn to rely on yourself when you can just rely on God? Why enjoy life and risk some bedtime story telling you you're going to hell when you can just follow and be comfortable.

The short thing is that the truth hurts and for most people it's more convenient to take on some kind of faith and not have to worry about anything, not have to question, not have to find things for yourself.

Faith is something you believe and if you have real faith then all your words and actions will reflect it. This is what we mean when we say someone is integrated - all of their beliefs, actions, and words point to the same thing. So, no, faith is not a way to circumvent honesty. Real faith makes anything less than total honesty impossible.

Faith is complex. It doesn't just come from one cause. It doesn't just exist one way. It doesn't just have one purpose. It may be worth discussing to understand it better. I would not dismiss such a significant phenomena of human life by imagining it was all merely a ploy.

Peace,

Yes. Many people use it to hide from others. But does that make faith invalid? no. I can use a car to hit someone with, but that doesn't make the concept and realization of driving, wrong.

Technically, no. Officially, no. That's just a philanthropist. Faith is a belief in an invisible diety.

In christianity you have to be honest with yourself first before you can be honest with God.
