..in order to continue the neverending quest to convert the world to share their beliefs?

I realize that they do a lot of good, and help the people who they are coming in contact with.. But, I was wondering if the bottom line and the underlying point of the mission trip is to convert the people you are visiting?

Our mission isn't necessarily to "covert" but rather to share the word and the love of Christ. Ultimately it is up to the listener as to whether or not he or she accepts the gift of eternal life.
Kind of like a librarian. They don't make you read books they just help you find them.

Our church does not pay our missionaries. We also have NO PAID leaders in our church. All church offices are filled by normal working people and do not get paid for holding those offices.

Our young men save money they earn from working and their families help pay their expenses. Our church members also help them as needed, feeding them meals, giving them rides when they need one, and a few other minor things.

They usually leave for their missions at 19 years of age and serve 2 years all over the US and in many other countries of the world. And they do not know where they are going until after they have submitted their request to serve and then have been called to enter our Mission training school. Once in there they are taught the language and some of the customs of the country they will be going to.

They are under strict rules while on their mission. They don't have radios, T.V.'s or other worldly things in their quarters. They are up at 6AM studying Scriptures, then go out doing their duties, also do community service when people need help. Cleaning up after disasters, helping at city hall, helping cities build parks, and even helping people do repairs around their homes when asked and able to. They are not allowed to date or go to movies or any other such things during their service.

They are allowed 2 phone calls home per year, write letters once a week, home by 9PM, lights out by 10PM after more scripture reading.

We also have older couples that can serve for 18 months to 2 years also, and they do not get paid by the church. They pay ALL their own expenses.

We have also had young men that have been chosen by various football and basketball teams and offered multi-million dollar contracts that have put those on hold to serve a mission. And they did not get paid for serving on those missions either.

Yes, and there should be more of it. However, our commission is not to convert- tho that's a bonus for them, it is to spread the Good News. How can they know if no one ever tells them and how can we tell them unless they are sent? (sorry, don't know chapter & verse). Christians do not get points for people who, upon hearing about Jesus decide to follow Him. It's not a hard sell- Jesus teaches unconditional love.
The world is a missions field-

Yes. So?

Do you invest your time here, 8 hours a day, to tell them that they are wrong? Who is more nuts? The guy who writes a check, says a prayer, then gets back to family, work, friends.... or the guy sitting online for days at a time, living in a fantasy world?

Yes ,we have missionary's in the backward countries. That sell their babies to perverted old men from ,America,Austria,Canada,China, among others.
The People Buy these babies, before some old man can have sex with them.So many we have gotten to too late ,those we still try to buy.To free them from a life of abuse. We support them 100%.We do not have to push religion on them. They are so thankful, they are out oh hell.
WHAT ARE YOU,DO YOU SUPPORT,OR DESTROY?<><

Of course our mission is to spread the word. I don't think they're in the businness of forcing people to believe them, but it's a good way to get people to experience the Love of Jesus.

Of course. That's the whole point. We're still sponsoring one of our members who went to Vanatua about 10 years ago. Then there are the smaller trips like the one my daughter went to, to Mexico. The whole idea is to tell people about Jesus.

Yes, missionary trips are funded by their respective churches.

Exactly.

The main point is to spread the light. Right!

I don't see anything wrong with that, unless you start badmouthing other religions.
