When breaking the news to his apostles that a friend had died (John 11:11), Jesus said: "Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.”
John 11:12 Therefore the disciples said to him: “Lord, if he has gone to rest, he will get well.” 13 Jesus had spoken, however, about his death. But they imagined he was speaking about taking rest in sleep. 14 At that time, therefore, Jesus said to them outspokenly: “Lazarus has died".
Notice that Jesus linked death with sleep. At Ecclesiastes 9:5 it says that the dead are not conscious. In John 11, Jesus spoke to the sisters of Lazarus, and they spoke of their faith in the resurrection that would occur "on the last day" (vs. 24). Jesus however resurrected Lazarus to life right then! as a powerful sign of God's power and to show what he would do for all those sleeping in death as King of God's Kingdom.
Your sister is sleeping in death- she is not working, she is not in pain- she is awaiting the future resurrection. She is in the safest place imaginable- she is in God's memory! John 5:28, 29 speaks of how all those in the "memorial tombs" would be resurrected. You should study the bible with Jehovah's Witnesses to find out more about the marvellous truth regarding our dead loved ones. No other religion teaches the truth regarding death and the resurrection that Jesus taught. Knowing that I will embrace my dead loved ones again right here on the earth is one of the most wonderful reasons for hope that our loving God Jehovah has given us!

Do not worry about the afterlife, because no matter what noone can tell you. So just move on by not letting the question take you over. If it does, then forget her...it is ok to forget. I always try to remember that 'life goes on' is more important than 'remembering the dead'.

in my personal opinion we are all just on different levels. Yes I do believe in Heaven and God but I also believe that we are made of pure energy and our energy exists on different levels. We are not able to go to the next level until it is our time to do so. Some times people who have passed on can come back to our level to console us or be there in our time of need. They are never truley gone and we share this energy forever. It is what links us together as people.

She is in your memory. Read the book "The Bridge Over San Luis Rey". As long as she is in your memory, she lives. Honor her there.
