The vet said it is similar to IBS. Why is nothing working for him though? We tried steroids and all kinds of special diet foods. Please help, my poor kitty hasn't pottied normal in over 5 years (if ever).

Your vet doesn't sound too helpful. Just like people with IBS, there will be some foods and stresses that trigger it more than others. At the very least I'd think the vet could recommend some different kinds of food or something that would ease your cats situation.

Below is a link that goes through symptoms and possible treatments. Hope this helps...and I'd find another vet since this one hasn't been able to help over a 5 year span.

That website discusses lymphocytic enteritis in cats. Please read it for a better understanding of the condition. Note that commercial diets have not been successful in treating the problem. Try a homemade diet.

You might want to talk to your vet again to get clarification of the problem and possible solutions.

Good luck.

If your vet cannot explain things better to you so you know what's going on and what options(if any) there are..then change vets. You should know everything that is going on with your poor kitty.
God bless you and your "baby".
