I just bought my first home and the rec room is beautifully finished with knotty pine. There is an entertainment shelf (floor to ceiling) already in the rec room and I need to buy a TV to fit the space. The space itself is 35 inches across and 36 inches up/down. My LCD wont fit (its 4 inches too long on each side)... I need to know what size of TV to buy for this space. I think I want a 'old school' /flate panel/tube TV. A LCD wont work in this type of space (at least i dont think so).... They all seem too wide and not tall enough. I want to utilize as much of the space as possible. Anyone know of tv space calculators, or how i can figure out what size TV to buy?

first a flat panel is a thin one. i think you mean flat screen that can meen a tube tv. but the important number is the width. since it is only 35" then you can probaly only fit a 32" and you can probably fit a lcd into that space but the speakers need to be on the bottom of the screen. of there on the sides then if wont fit. .but if you want to fill the whole space then you need a 36" tube. but they are heavy.and probably not hd( although you can get them) but the screen is sqare.
