Having had no experience with the afterlife, I'm not in a position to say.

Your own. Religion is a tool to help you get through life as happily and easily as possible. You don't have to subscribe to an organization, you can learn about the ideas and expressions of Spirit from a variety of religions or cultures and create your own tool, tailor made for you. Make one that uplifts your spirit, sets reasonable boundaries and gives you tools to get over the hard times. It can be as simple as the Golden Rule and the afterlife that rings true to you.

I personally believe that when we die we revert to a spirit existence and kind of return home to be with others of spirit. That was what I have come up with after seeing so many religions talk of an afterlife that is tailored to their cultures. Vikings went to Val Halla to fight and drink - which is how they celebrated anyway it seems. Throughout the ages, Heaven is simply a wonderful place to be for our spirit - but how can we as physical beings even fathom a spirit existence? How can there be touch or sight in a world with no body? Each religion talks of a wonderful place - that's likely what it is.

I also like a religion that lets me feel like I will be back and will be able to see things from a different persepective - I don't like the idea of a 1 time deal. It makes more sense to me to believe that I will be back, with some of my favorite people, on a different adventure with all different roles.

Peace!

The best religion to follow in the one that in your heart and mind you know what it teaches is the true word of God. But don't fool yourself and pick a religion based on your human preferences. This is a spiritual decision and you must me honest with yourself and completely open minded. For example if a Christian were to leave the faith and convert to Buddhism simply because they liked the way way they worshipped or some other aspect of the religion without truly believing that the Buddhist faith was the one true path to God then that would be a picking a religion based on how one thought about it how they felt spiritually about it.

Look at all the different religions and figure out which one speaks to your heart and you have no doubt in your mind that this is the true path to God. As for the after life, if God is a just God and you made your decision as to how to follow him for the right reasons then you should be on solid ground. Remember, make sure you keep your heart and mind open to the influence of God and don't make your decision based on human feelings or personal preferences. There is a fine line between making a human decision and a spiritual decision but with prayer and study you will find the right path. I pray that God will be with you on this journey of discovery.

If there is an afterlife, wouldn't it stand to reason that the afterlife is the same for all.

Do you think there is a different kind of heaven for each different religion?

The afterlife cannot be verified, so the second part your question canot be answered. The best religion to follow would be the one that makes you more fit to live in civilized society. The one that does the best in that regard is Buddhism. No Holy Wars, no Inquisition, no Crusades, no Witch Hunts, no killing other members of your own religion over petty doctrinal differences.

Asking this question is gonna start a lot of arguments... and in theory you shouldn't choose a religion for the afterlife, you should choose it for the messages it teaches you, and the morals, etc.

If you want a good afterlife, make up your own religion.

You need to explore and research each one and find out which one is right for you. No person should tell you which one is best. It is what you truly believe in. Don't worry about the afterlife. Live in the moment.

You can follow any earthly belief system you choose.

God's laws of cause and effect are based on your actions and apply universally regardless of your belief system. Even if you choose not to believe in God but act out of Love you will find your way to heaven.

God's Love is universal. Nobody get's lost on the path back to the Creator. It may take some people longer than others to find their way, but we are all guaranteed to eventually be re-united with the total and unconditional Love of God.

There is no hell, there is only our journey back to the Creator.

"Best results"? You can't take a poll of dead people and ask...

(Also: there's no afterlife)

Why do you feel a need for any religion at all?

If you must have one, find one that doesn't make you hurt other people and doesn't contradict objective truth.

My own personal search led me to Christianity. No other religion offers redemption for ones sins. Just think, there is nothing to lose if there is no hell, but if there is a hell then none of the other religions will do you any good once you are there.
