It seems that even in ancient times people were searching for the a connection with God or Christ or maybe some other type of God.

Yes. But it is too personal to share here. I have also followed my heart and found myself at the place where I was most needed to help others. I believe that God directs our lives and if we are open we can experience God in many ways.

What kind of "spiritual experience" (i.e., induced psychosis) would one have to have in order to declare a belief in the Christian god particularly? Why not the FSM? Or Allah? Or Thor?

In those ancient times, people were searching for easy comforting answers... not a connection with their invention. Just to say their invention (god) created everything and that was it. They were ignorant primitive thinking people. We should all be past that way of viewing the world.

Yes I had a spiritual experience and I want that others also experience what I had. Here it is a link...i know it is just a link but it is a start to the connection of what you said..

I ate a golden banana last night that the pink monkey left me for christmas! It was wonderful! I suddenly realized the green monkey is the son of the pink monkey!
